If Mohammad Al-Mojil Group’s quality of work, its contribution in the growth of oil and non-oil sector and its commitment to its clients could be summed up in one single adage then it will be suffice to say that “MMG is a symbol of growth and a promise for the future.” Driven by this philosophy, the founder, Sheikh Mohammad Al-Mojil, five decades ago while laying down the policy of the group, ensured that MMG kept pace with the growth and development of the Kingdom and continued to be relevant to the national and regional economy and remained a force to reckon with in oil and non-oil sector.
For almost 70 years, the Kingdom has continuously developed its role as a key energy provider to the world. MMG stood shoulder to shoulder with Saudi Aramco in its endeavors and executed some very crucial and prestigious projects.
For more than 50 years, MMG has shared a commitment to the oil, gas and petrochemical sector and has also shared the benefits associated with them, amongst the Saudi nationals, the residents and leading energy related companies from around the world.
As a result, MMG has had the honour of being a key player in the Kingdom’s highly technical and labour intensive energy supply process for almost all of the economic lifespan of the Saudi energy sector. It was this success that motivated the group to go public and in March 2008, MMG offered 100 million initial public offering (IPO) with SR10 subscription generating SR1 billion capital and thus becoming first group in the construction industry to go public. Later 25 million bonus shares were released, increasing the total capital to SR1.25 billion.
MMG’s core business is construction of projects both in oil and non-oil sector. It has also made its presence felt in civil construction. Five decades of technical knowledge and continuous improvement, along with strict adherence to quality control and assurance practices, has positioned MMG with a flawless record on delivery of projects valued at over $10 billion.
MMG’s founder right from its inception believed in multi-dimensional growth of the Kingdom’s economy. Taking cue from this legacy and in conformity with the Kingdom’s diversification plan, the existing management drew up a new diversification strategy that would result in the opening of new areas as well as joint ventures.
As part of its development strategy MMG had set up two steel fabrication plants located in Dammam and Rabigh.
The steel plants are specifically involved in pipe works, structural steel works and plate works. The plant has the capacity to produce up to 350 tons of high-quality piping within a single shift.
MMG has provided technical construction services to the industry since the 1950’s, including overall maintenance and turnkey contracts, industrial cleaning and pre-commission services, including Saudi Arabian Standards Organisation (SASO) certified calibration facilities (mechanical, electrical and instrumentation).
In an effort to continuously improve solutions to clients’ specific problems, specialised research and development has become a key component embedded within technical services.
Parallel to the Kingdom’s economic growth plans, MMG will nurture its social and economic responsibilities, in terms of assets, capacity, capability and skilled manpower. This will ensure MMG’s ability to continue its duty as a major contributor in the Kingdom’s role as the world’s leading energy provider.
The range of industrial services provided by MMG has developed into various specialist categories as a direct result of clients’ specific solution based demands for safe industrial construction services.
MMG’s Marine Services is yet another key component of the group and has created a niche for itself in the shipping industry. It was the first Saudi company to offer a fully serviced fleet of vessels with dedicated equipment and skilled manpower to service Saudi Aramco's offshore projects.
MMG owns and operates a large fleet of vessels covering offshore construction, maintenance and drilling support for oil rigs and oil production platforms and material handling services.
Since its inception, MMG’s marine division has established an enviable record of specialised marine support services. Through the operation of its growing fleet of vessels, MMG services some of the largest corporations including Qatar Petroleum, Barwill, Mcdowell Schlumberger and National Petroleum Construction Company.
MMG’s strategic expansion plans include increasing the number of vessels in the current fleet and establishing a dedicated skilled in-house maintenance crew.
Along with diversification, the group also chalked out a plan to expand its operation. Today, MMG’s area of operation has crossed the geographical boundaries of the Kingdom and in 2009 it started its operation in UAE’s capital, Abu Dhabi. The vision of the company is to become the most preferred EPC contractor and industrial services provider in the Middle East.
With its multi-dimensional services and its keenness to provide integrated services to its clients, MMG is all set to become a provider of tailor-made solutions to its all clients from industrial, civil and oil sector expanding its area of operations beyond Saudi Arabia.
